Yasser Aldubaikhi wanted a chatbot that could act as a personal lawyer for Saudi Arabia: ask a legal question in plain words, get a clear answer based on the country’s laws and regulations.
The challenge
A chatbot can only answer like a lawyer if it knows the law. That meant collecting Saudi Arabia’s laws and regulations first, then making sure every answer comes from their actual text, not from what a language model happens to remember.
What we built
LawAI, built in Python in three parts:
- Web scrapers that collect Saudi Arabia’s laws and regulations.
- A legal knowledge base built with LlamaIndex, which indexes every text so the chatbot can find the articles that apply to each question.
- The chatbot, which uses ChatGPT to write a clear answer from the laws it retrieves, like a personal lawyer would.
The result
